American Muslims Value learning Arabic in the Intensive SummerArabic Immersion Program at Al Azhar University, Cairo Egypt
(PRWeb) December 7, 2006 -- Throughout the US, American Muslims are becoming aware of the Cairo Egypt based Summer Intensive Arabic Immersion and Quran Program. The Arabic program is being offered in cooperation with the oldest university in the world, Al Azhar University, in Egypt. Student will take intensive Arabic classes on the Cairo University campus. Classes will be 5 days a week and last 6 hours a day. There are three entry levels: beginners intermediate and advance. Students are required to know the Arabic alphabet prior to taking the classes. It will be very selective and challenging because the classes are taught in Arabic. Over the past two summers 47 students have benefited from the challenge.
Although learning Arabic is on the rise in America for many different reasons, including the events of September 11th, good Arabic language immersion programs are not easily available. Students that join this program are encouraged to use this time for self-reflection and improvement. However, not all the students' time is spent in study mode. On the weekends students find time for new adventures by exploring amazing places such as the famous pyramids, hallways of museums filled with ancient artifacts, and of course there is time for floating down the Nile river.
When the weekend, comes to a close, their focus is turned back to their studies. They once again remember that they are at the oldest learning institute in the world for the purpose of learn the Arabic language and to increase their skills at reading the text of the most often read book in the world, the Qur'an.
This is the 3rd year that Al-Ameen Associates and Cordoba School of Professional and Language Studies (Ashburn VA, USA) have organized and offered the Intensive Arabic Immersion and Qur'an program in cooperation with Al Azhar University. Both Al-Ameen Associates and the Cordoba School recognize the importance of offering such an Arabic language, immersion program to American Muslims whose first language is not Arabic. This kind of program provide students the opportunity to learn the Arabic language that is very much part of of worship and study in their Islamic religion.
