Collins College Announces it will be a Major Sponsor of 2008 Phoenix Film Festival
TEMPE, Ariz. (Business Wire EON) March 26, 2008 -- The Phoenix Film Festival will be held from April 3 to April 10, 2008 at Harkins Theater (Scottsdale Rd & Loop 101). The festival will feature the finest in independent films from around the world, celebrities, filmmaking seminars, and events all week long.
"The Phoenix Film Festival is very excited to have Collins College on board as a partner this year. Collins' film program continues to grow and turn out quality filmmakers. Arizona's largest film festival working with one of the state's top film programs is a perfect match," said Jason Carney, festival director of the Phoenix Film Festival.
"Collins is committed to building a strong film industry in Arizona. Partnering with the Phoenix Film Festival is a tremendous opportunity for the college and for Arizona. The film festival annually draws talent from all over the country and is a great venue to showcase Arizona as a leader in the entertainment industry," said Joshua Padron, president of Collins College.
The school of Film, Video, and Visual FX is Collins' fastest growing school. Approximately 200 film students are enrolled. In 2007 the film school moved into 14th Street Studio, a new professional-grade facility. 14th Street Studio features a screening-room theater that seats 150 people, digital classrooms, and sound stages with dedicated control and sound booths, professional lighting grids, and sound-proofing for filming. Collins invested in the new facility to provide more opportunities for students to receive hands-on, professional training in film and video production.
