Technology Jazzes Up Economic Education at Association for Supervision and Curriculum Developers Conference

March 15, 2008 (PRWEB) March 15, 2008 -- The National Council on Economic Education (NCEE, www.ncee.net) unveiled its workshop at the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD, http://www.ascd.org/portal/site/ascd/index.jsp/). Conference taking place March 15-17 in New Orleans, LA.

Teachers and curriculum developers will explore ways to use instructional technology to teach economics and personal finance in the K-12 classroom. Attendees will explore the conception, planning and delivery of an "income" module, with a focus on ways technology can make the process much easier.

After the session, attendees will have a better understanding of how to use technology to connect their students with standards-based content, and will leave with handouts and a list of technology resources that they can use with their students and and share with their fellow teachers.

"The biggest challenge in infusing economics and personal finance into the K-12 curriculum is taking that first step," says Troy D. White, NCEE's Director of Product Marketing and Sales. "This workshop gives instructional leaders at all grade levels a simple, practical template they can use to hit the ground running."

Kathy Miles, NCEE's teacher support specialist, will conduct the workshop "Connecting Students and Technology for Enhanced Learning" on Monday, March 17th at 10:30 a.m. in room 335. In the session, Mrs. Miles will introduce attendees to a suite of DVD and computer-based programs; share strategies for accommodating different learning styles and building better student-teacher contact using interactive videos and hands-on computer exercises; and explore techniques for spiraling content throughout the K-12 curriculum.

For teachers and curriculum developers who would like to learn more about ways to infuse economics and personal finance into their curriculum, NCEE will be showcasing its newest economics and personal finance resources in booth 702.

The exhibit will take place on Saturday, March 15th from 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. ; Sunday, March 16th from 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. ; and Monday, March 17th from 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
