School Children Across the Country are Helping to Say Thank You to Veterans and Active Duty Service Personnel
Cincinnati, OH (PRWEB) March 7, 2008 -- Schools from over 20 states including Georgia, Florida, Maryland, Texas and Ohio have been signing specially designed Thank You cards that are being shipped in care packages to troops overseas and delivered to military hospitals including Walter Reed Army Hospital.
The Thank You Foundation, a Cincinnati based 501c3 non profit organization, has been offering the cards to schools as part of its Thank You card program. Some schools have gone a step further by working with the Foundation to do care package drives.
In addition, to the Thank You cards the Foundation sent over 1000 Christmas cards during the holidays along with over 300 care packages. Cards were also hand delivered to wounded soldiers at Walter Reed by its volunteers in Washington D.C.
Foundation President and Founder John Guinn said, "The Thank You card program has been very successful and it gives our young people an opportunity to reflect on the service and sacrifices made by our Military Personnel and Veterans."
"The program just isn't for school aged children. We recently shipped 25,000 cards to a University of South Carolina student who is working with children of all ages including students at the University to get cards signed," Guinn added.
The Foundation has been visible at various events in the Cincinnati area getting cards signed and collecting items to be shipped in care packages. In November 2007 the Foundation announced its plans to build a mobile health unit to be donated to the Cincinnati Veterans Administration Hospital, and supported several Cincinnati Military Families for the Holidays.
In February 2008 the Foundation announced its "Blue Skies" program which will offer disabled Veterans the opportunity to go tandem skydiving and a partnership with Careers in Focus LLC to offer Veterans a discounted resume service and job coaching.
About The Thank You Foundation The Thank You Foundation is an all volunteer, non-profit 501c3 organization whose mission is to show appreciation and express gratitude for those who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces both past and present.
The Foundation accomplishes its mission through several programs and activities such as sending care packages, visiting Veterans in care facilities, providing complimentary tickets to sporting and entertainment events, providing resume and job lead services, assisting in transitional and emergency need services, helping school children express their appreciation through its Thank You Card program and presenting Certificates of Appreciation to those who have served or are serving in the military.
