The American College Foundation Announces Carroll Walker, CLU, is Recipient of Samuel H. Weese Award
Bryn Mawr, PA (PRWEB) March 5, 2008 -- The American College, the nation's leading financial services educator, announced today that Carroll Walker, CLU® is this year's recipient of the Samuel H. Weese Award. The American College Foundation periodically bestows this top honor to one individual in recognition of that person's exceptional leadership in service to The College's advancement efforts, highlighting the stewardship aspects of advancement.
The award presentation took place on January 17, 2008, at the McInnis Park Golf Center in San Rafael, CA. "Ever since I started in the industry in 1948, I have believed that service is important," said Walker. "I feel honored and grateful that my colleagues have recognized my commitment to the financial services industry and nominated me for this award."
The Weese Award is named for Dr. Samuel H. Weese, CLU®, ChFC®, past President and CEO of The American College. Dr. Weese retired from The College in 2002 and was succeeded by Dr. Larry Barton as the eighth President and Chief Executive Officer of the institution.
The American College Foundation is a tax exempt, private foundation. The mission of the Foundation is to engage talented and committed volunteers to solicit annual gifts, major gifts and endowments, and to oversee management of The College's overall advancement goals for the benefit and continued success of the institution.

Walker entered the insurance business in 1948 shortly after World War II. As a Pearl Harbor survivor and member of "the greatest generation," he used his belief in strengthening relationships to build an ethical insurance business. Since entering the financial services industry, Walker's client base has grown from under 100 to over 4,000.
A graduate of the University of California at Berkley, Walker has been a member of the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) since 1958, was longtime Chair of the Golden Key Society at The American College, and former President of The National CLU® Society. In addition, he served on The College's President's Circle National Committee and on its 21st Century Endowment Campaign Committee. Walker is also active in the community with the Boy Scouts of America as well as with his church.
