IMS Global Learning Consortium and the Korea Education and Research Information Service Announce Formation of IMS Korea

Lake Mary, FL/Seoul, Republic of Korea (PRWEB) February 12, 2008 -- Today the IMS Global Learning Consortium (IMS GLC) and the Korea Education and Research Information Service (KERIS) announced the signing of a formal memorandum of understanding launching IMS Korea. IMS Korea is a regional partnership between IMS Global and Korea in support of international standards and best practices in the use of learning technology. IMS Global is the leading membership consortium developing standards and best practices in the use of learning technology. KERIS is a national institution of the Republic of Korea that specializes in enhancing the effective use of ICT in education and research.

The IMS Korea partnership enables commercial organizations, institutions, and government entities in the Republic of Korea region to participate in international standards and best practice development through IMS Global, in conjunction with local activities through IMS Korea. Seven Korean organizations who are e-learning market leaders in Korea have committed to joining in support of IMS Korea, and as Contributing Members of IMS Global. These organizations are: SK C&C, Credu, Tekville, CTUnion, Daulsoft, DUNet, 4CSoft.

The activities of IMS Korea are as follows:

-    Operating IMS Korea projects group in accordance with the projects of IMS GLC

-    Developing a business model and creating a new e-learning market

-    Fostering Korea's e-learning professionals and providing consulting

-    Supporting e-learning standards (IMS or KS) application agencies

-    Forming foundation for the future launch of Asia-Pacific IMS (Tentative name)
