National American University Ushers in First Austin Class - First Students Select NAU for Compatibility with Current Work Schedule
Austin, TX (PRWEB) January 18, 2008 -- National American University (NAU), a fully accredited, four-year university granting degrees on the bachelor's, associate and master's levels, ushered in its first Texas students in Austin earlier this month. The university's primary goal is to assist working adults in earning bachelors, associate and masters degrees.
NAU's new Austin campus will be located on Mopac in the Wells Branch area, and classes have begun in temporary office space until the new campus facility is completed in March of this year.
During its 66 year history, the university system has successfully launched over 15 different campus locations. NAU commissioned a market study in 2004 that determined an Austin campus would flourish in the Central Texas area.
"National American University makes returning to college a reality for many professionals," states J.P. Foley, SW Regional Vice President of the new campus. "Quarterly scheduling, flexible learning formats, like accelerated and distance learning are combined with the personal attention expected at a private university - to give students the edge they need to balance college coursework along with family and work demands."
National American University offers a wide-range of course offerings. At the new Austin campus, NAU will begin offering courses within the business, management and information technology degree programs initially and add additional programs, including an MBA degree and nursing programs, as the needs of the Austin market determine.
Claudia Maldonado, a new enrollee at the college stated, "I selected NAU as my path for gaining my college degree, because they are the only college that has taken the time to assist me with analyzing my previous college hours and fitting them into my future degree plan. It is hard to commit to returning to school until you get the plan in place, and NAU made it easy."
NAU holds equivalent accreditation standards as state universities like The University of Texas at Austin or Texas A&M, which are members of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. With its first campus and central administrative offices located in South Dakota, National American University is regionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, www.ncahlc.org, (312) 263-0456.
About National American University (NAU)
National American University (NAU) is a fully accredited, four-year university granting degrees on the bachelor's, associate and master's level. The university's primary goal is to assist non-traditional students in earning their degrees.
During NAU's 66 years in higher education, the regionally accredited university has remained committed to providing non-traditional students with personalized guidance and instruction within a caring and supportive environment. The earning of course credits is simplified through flexible scheduling, small class sizes, and convenient learning formats, including accelerated and distance learning. With the focus on the needs of non-traditional and returning students, course schedules are designed to allow students to progress in their coursework while maintaining a balance with family and work commitments.
Throughout its system of 15 campuses nationwide, National American University offers a wide-range of course offerings and degree or diploma certifications. At the new Austin campus, NAU will offer applied management, business management and information technology courses on the bachelor's degree level and MBA programs on the master's level. All programs have a special focus on preparing students for the challenges of technology and the evolving global society.
