Full Sail Announces Its First Online Degree Program

Winter Park, FL (PRWEB) October 1, 2007 -- Today, Full Sail Real World Education (www.fullsail.com) launched the first online degree program for the award-winning college, a Master of Science Degree in Entertainment Business (www.fullsail.com/online/).

Over the past 28 years, Full Sail has quickly become a highly acclaimed institution that has fostered a reputation as one of the premiere entertainment media colleges in existence today. To date, Full Sail has served more than 25,000 graduates worldwide on its 178-acre campus outside of Orlando, FL, and is now prepared to bring that level of expertise and innovation to online education.

As with each of the degree programs Full Sail offers, a pioneering approach to delivering curriculum - this time in the online educational space - was pursued via two primary objectives: a commitment to human interaction in the sometimes impersonal delivery of Internet-based education, and educating students with rich media and modern-day Internet technologies.

In the Entertainment Business Master's Degree Program, every facet of the education is designed around the principle that human interaction is essential. The program features easily accessible instructors who reside on Full Sail's campus, collaboration tools that enable students to meet, share, and receive feedback from their peers, and exclusive guest lectures that expand the scope of the overall educational experience.

In addition, through Full Sail's initiative called Project LaunchBox, which began in April 2007, students get Apple MacBook Pro notebook computers with powerful professional application software to engage with Full Sail's online educational platform. Full Sail further made the decision to create their online delivery system in-house, which is rare in the online educational market. Also, at this time no other online school, college or university exclusively uses Apple computers to deliver and engage in online education.

Academically, the Entertainment Business Master's Degree Program is built around two capstone projects - the Leadership Portfolio and the Thesis Report. This comprehensive program takes students through high-level business courses such as Entertainment Law, Business Storytelling and Brand Development, Executive Leadership, Negotiation and Artist Management, and Mobile Marketing and Commerce, covering theory and practical applications of the entertainment business world. Students will cultivate advanced business and management skills through extensive hands-on training and development.

Students of the accelerated program will achieve their degree in 13 months, and either combined with any of the Full Sail Bachelor of Science Degree Programs, or with an undergraduate degree from an institution with a similar program emphasis, students will obtain the essential business skills within entertainment media that will prepare them for a possible career as a creative leader within an organization, or as an entrepreneur crafting and running their own entertainment media corporation.

In addition to this online degree initiative, Full Sail currently offers a total of ten on-site degree programs, including the recent launch of the on-campus complement to the new online program, also a Master of Science Degree in Entertainment Business. The breakdown is as follows: Associate of Science Degrees offered in Graphic Design, Recording Arts and Show Production & Touring; Bachelor of Science Degrees offered in Computer Animation, Digital Arts & Design, Film, Game Development and Music Business; and a Master of Science Degree in Entertainment Business. This online master's degree program is the first in a series of other new degree programs, online and on-campus, that will launch in early 2008. They are the following: Bachelor of Science Degrees in Web Design & Development (on-site); Game Art (on-site); Entertainment Business; (on-site and online) and a Master of Science Degree in Education Media Design and Technology (online).

Isis Jones, Chief Information Officer of Full Sail stated, "The landscape of education is constantly changing and evolving and we are privileged to be a solid part of that foundation. Since its inception, Full Sail has made an on-going and unwavering commitment to stay on top of the industry and meet the needs of students worldwide who are passionate about entertainment media and strive for quality education. Taking this special approach to online education is an exciting new chapter in our history."

Since 1979, Full Sail Real World Education has been an innovative educational leader for those pursuing careers in the entertainment industry. With over 25,000 alumni, graduate credits include work on Oscar, Emmy and GRAMMY-winning projects, best-selling video games, and the #1 grossing U.S. concert tour seven out of the last seven years. Full Sail's 178-acre campus proudly welcomes over 5,000 students from 50 states and 37 countries.

Students who pursue their degree on campus experience a "real world" education with a professional class structure of 8-12 hours per day and a 24-hour around the clock schedule which earned Full Sail the "Most Innovative Program" Award by the Florida Association of Postsecondary Schools and Colleges. The college has also been named: "The Harvard of Game Schools" by Tips & Tricks Magazine; one of the top three "New Media Schools" by Shift Magazine (alongside the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and New York University); one of the Top Five Game Degree Programs in the world by Electronic Gaming Monthly; one of the "Best Music Programs" in the country by Rolling Stone Magazine; one of the "Best Music Business Departments" in the Schools That Rock: The Rolling Stone College Guide; and one of the Best Film Programs in the country by UNleashed Magazine.
