Academy of Art University Student Wins Prestigious Pottery Barn Contest

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) May 30, 2007 -- First Prize for Pottery Barn's mug design contest has been awarded to Ah-young Jeon, an Academy of Art University student studying Sculpture at the Fine Art School. Jeon's ceramic mug creation will be manufactured by Pottery Barn and featured in a specially designed display highlighting Jeon and the Academy of Art University, to be featured in Pottery Barn stores across the country in 2008. Ms. Jeon's winning design is of a distinctive green clay, featuring a nest of eggs on the outside of the mug, and a bird perched atop its handle.

Jeon understood how to create a "product that our customer can relate to and want to purchase. It was innovative, clever, and whimsical, with nature at its heart," states Pottery Barn design team representative Brett Kladney. The contest for a distinctive mug design was open to all college-level fine art schools in the Bay Area of Northern California.

"This level of recognition from the professional design industry reflects our commitment to prepare our students for success in the real world," said Dr. Elisa Stephens, President of the Academy of Art University. "We constantly strive to provide dynamic opportunities to help our students launch their professional careers in art & design."
