Northwestern University Signs With Compass Knowledge Group Supporting New Online Master's Degree in Medical Informatics

Orlando, FL (PRWeb) March 12, 2007 -- Distance learning services provider Compass Knowledge Group has contracted with Northwestern University School of Continuing Studies to provide marketing, student services and recruitment support for Northwestern's new online version of its successful master of science degree in medical informatics (MMI).

The MMI online program is an eleven course, part-time graduate degree program that focuses on the study and application of principles of information management, design, integration, implementation, and evaluation to enterprise-wide health care systems. The program is offered by Northwestern's School of Continuing Studies in partnership with the Feinberg School of Medicine.

"Northwestern University brings a high level of quality and focus on the individual learner to distance education. This partnership will help us to achieve our goal of supporting universities as they deliver meaningful education to busy working professionals in health care who choose to continue their studies through an online option."

"Information can empower patients and encourage them to participate in their care. There's an enormous need for a skilled workforce in medical informatics."

Compass Knowledge Group is a premier provider of e-learning solutions, supplying distance learning expertise and operational support to assist colleges and universities in market recruitment, research, marketing and retention. The MMI program offered through Northwestern brings the total number of distance learning programs supported by Compass to twenty. Other partnering institutions include Boston University, Eastern Kentucky University, Florida Hospital College of Health Sciences, Marylhurst University, Mountain State University, Portland State University, the University of Cincinnati, and the University of Florida.

The mission of the School of Continuing Studies (SCS) is to extend the resources of Northwestern University to undergraduate and graduate students whose lives include significant professional and personal commitments that require that their educational goals be achieved using flexibility delivery formats.
